My cousin actually sent me this song, begging me to cover it. So I gave it a listen… and I instantly loved it. I started listening more and more, learned the lyrics, and also came across Michael Gerow’s cover, which I thought was really beautiful.
I ended up downloading an instrumental from YouTube, recorded the whole thing, and added some adlibs you’ll hear throughout the track. After mixing and mastering, I had the final version ready.
While on a trip to Malaysia with my brother and father, we bought a professional camera to start recording music videos for my covers and original songs. Once I had the audio ready, I spent a couple of days brainstorming video ideas, scouted a few spots, and rented one of those pickup taxis you see around Thailand.
The video was shot in Koh Samui. My brother filmed, his girlfriend helped hold the lights (which I bought on TikTok Shop), and we just used a Bluetooth speaker to play the track while I performed.
We got some shots in the back of the pickup truck with side benches, a few outside a 7-Eleven, some down at the beach at Hinta Hinyai, and even a few late-night scenes under the stars. There’s also a shot of me riding the motorbike while we filmed from the side.
After we wrapped, I took everything back home, edited the footage, added sound effects, did the color grading, and exported the final result.
